Welcome to the Atarieviewer site, where I review old Atari games! I grew up with an Atari 800XL, and I got a lot of playtime out of this thing when I was a kid. So, I’ve decided to relive some of those old days and review the old games that I used to play, so that others may experience what I did growing up. Each review will consist of a screenshot and a little capsule review of each game. These are, of course, extremely subjective and may be skewed by nostalgia, so let the reader beware!

I am organizing these reviews by disk number. We had around 20 disks of games (which later became about 26 thanks to our cousins giving us some). I don’t actually know where these disks even came from; I think my dad pirated them from the elementary school, but each disk had two sides and each side had anywhere from one to seven games on it. Some sides and/or disks didn’t actually work, thanks to bad sectors and mishandling (sorry about the orange juice, disk 3!).

Also, if you ever see the acronym “ECCAMF”, it was taken from this review:

ECCAMF [eh’kamf]: Everything Changes Color And Moves Faster.

Enjoy, and keep on retro-gaming!

If you want to try some of these games out yourself, get a good Atari emulator (I use Altirra) and search Atarimania for some of these titles. If you want the real classic experience, get an Atari 800 yourself off eBay! You know you want to!

Can I make two minor suggestions for your site?

    1) Can you put your last name and email somewhere on the About page? I know that sounds dumb, but it took me a LONG time to find your last name (it starts with a K right?) when I was quoting one of your reviews in an article.

    2) the date format in the articles doesn’t show the years, which is a bit annoying if this is your first visit to the site.

    • 1) My last name actually starts with a “P”, but I try to keep parts of my online identity separate from my actual name. I guess you could quote me as “Jeff P. from atarireviews.com”. I also don’t want to give out my email to avoid spammers, but I’ll see if I can come up with a good way for people to contact me and update this page accordingly.

      2) That’s a WordPress issue. I didn’t think it was a big deal (I figured most people’d probably search for a specific game, or maybe read the articles in chronological order, which is the same as the order by disk number), but I’ll see what I can do.
